👉For all JCIHK Full Member Aged 18 – 40
👉Language: English Only
👉Topic for Preliminary and Final Contest will be announced later. JC Class Participants are recommended to attend the workshop on 26 March 2022.
👉Previous JC Class Champions are not eligible to join the contest
👉Winner must represent JCIHK to join the JCI World Public Speaking Championship in 2022 JCI ASIA-PACIFIC CONFERENCE From May 26-29, 2022 at SakaiTakaishi, Japan via Online
🔶Open Class🔶
👉Eligible for General Public Aged 18 – 40
👉Language: Cantonese, English or Mandarin
👉Topic is self-defined by the contestant and should be not related to religion, politics, race and sex. Title of the speech and topic need to be provided to Project Chairman 5 days (by 11 April, 2022 23:59 PM) before the contest event. JCI HK has the right to refuse the topic.
👉Topic for preliminary and final contest should be the same.
❗❗❗ 2. Notes to Participants
(a) Contestant needs to submit a completed Application Form and agree the attestation on the contest rule. Application form must be submitted on or before 4 April 2022, 23:59PM to be eligible for joining the competition.
(b) Time allowed for both Open Class is 4 – 6 minutes & JC Class is 5 – 7 minutes. Contestants will be notified at 4 minutes for Open Class and 5 minutes for JC Class and another notification when there are thirty seconds left. Subject to the panel discretion, marks may be deducted if contestants exceed time allowed, or may disqualified the contestants.
(c) Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or nonverbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant. The speaker should begin speaking within a short time after joining the presentation room with judges, and is not permitted to delay the contest unnecessarily.
(d) In all speech contests, no signal shall be given for the overtime period.
❗❗❗ 3. Speaking Sequence and reporting time:
(a) Speaking sequence will be decided by the organizing committee by drawing the names of the contestants randomly through a computerized system, with the presence of JCI National President or JCI National Executive Vice President. The first name drawn will correspond to the first speaker, the second name drawn to the second speaker and so on, until all names have been exhausted.
(b) The order sequence for preliminary contest, the timeframe of the contest and ZOOM access link will be sent out together with the confirmation email. If no email received, please check with our Project Chairman Hang Yeung (
chihangyeung@vjc.org.hk).
(c) All preliminary contestants should arrive the waiting room via ZOOM on or before his / her speaking turn. Contestant is required to report to the registration officer upon his / her arrival by registering in the ZOOM waiting room.
(d) In the final contest, all contestants are required to arrive ZOOM waiting room on the reporting time. The speaking sequence will be drawn by the final contestants themselves. If the contestant is absent during the draw lots of the speaking sequence, Chairman or a representative from the organizing committee will draw on his / her behalf.
(e) Late comers may not be entertained.
❗❗❗ 4. Contest Guidelines:
(a) Contestant who plans to use props must notify project registration officer prior to the contest.
(b) Contestants must stay in the ZOOM waiting room until his / her presentation time.
(c) Contestant agrees that JCI Hong Kong reserves the right to use any photograph / video / screenshot taken at the contest without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph / video / screenshot. JCI Hong Kong may use the photograph / video / screenshot in the publications or other promotion material produced.
❗❗❗ 5. Online Performance Guidelines:
(a) Either landscape mode or portrait mode is acceptable.
(b) The entire live video must clearly show you full body, appearance and actions.
